A glp1 meal plan works best as a pattern you repeat: three small meals and a snack or two, each built around a protein food, with vegetables or fruit and a small portion of whole grains. The table below applies that pattern across seven days as an example. It has no calorie targets and no weight promises, because your prescriber or a dietitian is the right person to set amounts. Swap anything you do not tolerate for something similar.

What the framework is built on

We did not find a trial that tested a specific 7-day plan in people taking these medicines. That is why this is called a framework.

A 7-day sample framework

Portions are deliberately left to you. Start with less than you think you want and add if you are still hungry.

Notes on the table:

How to use the framework

  1. Pick one meal per slot and repeat it for a few days. Repeating reduces effort when your appetite is low.
  2. Put the protein food on the plate first and eat it first, if that suits you. This is a practical habit, not a trial result.
  3. Stop at comfortable fullness. If you are still hungry later, have a small snack rather than pushing through now.
  4. If you skip a meal, do not double the next one. Take a small snack instead.

Meal prep, safely

Prep is a good fit for a small appetite because you can portion small containers in advance. The FDA says to refrigerate or freeze meat, poultry, eggs, seafood and other perishables within 2 hours of cooking or purchasing, and lists 165 degrees Fahrenheit as the safe minimum internal temperature for leftovers and casseroles. Check the FDA page below for storage times.

Adapting the plan

This framework will not suit everyone. Ask your care team before using it if you have diabetes, kidney disease, food allergies, a history of disordered eating, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. The joint advisory notes that effects of GLP-1 medicines on eating disorders are not well established and could theoretically worsen or lessen symptoms in different circumstances. Dietitians can adapt the pattern for culture, budget and taste.

When to call a clinician

According to the Wegovy prescribing information, tell your healthcare provider right away if nausea, vomiting or diarrhea does not go away, or if you have severe stomach problems. The label lists severe abdominal pain that sometimes spreads to the back as a possible sign of pancreatitis. Your prescriber and pharmacist set your plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a GLP-1 meal plan that works for everyone?

No. Needs vary by health history, dose and tolerance. The framework above shows structure, and a dietitian can turn it into a plan for you.

What should I pick from a GLP-1 diet menu if I feel sick?

The advisory suggests smaller, more frequent meals, avoiding fatty or high-fiber foods in the first few days of treatment, and mentions ginger or peppermint tea. If nausea persists, contact your prescriber.

Can I meal prep for the whole week?

You can prep as far ahead as FDA storage guidance allows. Refrigerate promptly, freeze extra portions, and reheat leftovers thoroughly.

Do I need to weigh my food?

Not necessarily. Some people track protein or water only. Ask your prescriber or dietitian what to track.

Track what you actually ate

A plan only helps if it matches real life. Dosinha lets you log protein, fiber and water against targets you set, plus your shot and symptoms, so you can see how the week went and share it with your care team. Have a look.
